Here I am, typing on my beautiful Macbook pro – having just put away my 2 year old’s iPad, and I can’t help but wonder what is next in this era with such a visionary now gone from the world. Back in 2002, after lusting after one for years, my parents got me one of those dome iMacs – and I was forever changed/hooked to a brand. Once I began to think about entrepreneurship, and marketing, and really falling in love with it – a mentor appeared in Steve Jobs…reminding us to keep it simple, listen to the consumers, and love what you do. Even after falling sick, he kept going and ushered a whole new era of technology and innovation into the world, so much so that everyone tried (and continues to try) to duplicate his genius. He invented platforms in which people could earn a living, technology to make it easier to create, and always felt like someone you could go to the pub and have a beer with.
Steve Jobs was truly one of a kind, and I am sad that his magic is now gone – and that he was taken so early from this world. It wasn’t just the products, it was what he represented to all of us – and I hope that his excitement and creative energy continues on somehow…
I send my prayers and condolences to his family.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.” - Steve Jobs
